Blueseed is a ship that will be anchored 12 miles offshore and 30 minutes away from Silicon Valley. It’s a floating office park in international waters offering entrepreneurs the opportunity to work close to the Valley without having to worry about getting visas. Foreign nationals need a business visa to work on the mainland but they’re much easier to get. To live and earn a paycheck aboard the vessel you’ll only need a passport.
Amenities include gyms; a pool; sport fields; cafes; shared equipment – 3-D printers, etc.; food service; concierge; and more.
Large capacity ferry service to the mainland will run twice a day.
With the world’s best engineers and entrepreneurs assembled in one place, there’s no telling what will develop. They’re also offering to help startups move to the mainland after they outgrow their boat offices. They’ll provide contacts and sources from Silicone Valley enabling startups to scale as they grow. Other plans include connections to startup events; access to angel investors and venture capitalists; mentors; and training programs.
The ship will be launched in 2013-2014. If you haven’t got start-up plans in place already you may want to work on them fast and apply for a spot aboard. This is bound to be an interesting trip.
